St. Lucas is hosting an educational presentation on the opioid problem in St. Louis County and the surrounding area led by Dr. Joseph Forand. The presentation will take place on Monday, January 30 at 7:00 pm at St. Lucas UCC. Topics covered will include background on opioids themselves, the science behind opioid addiction, how it impacts the community, and ways to recognize addiction in friends and family. All are invited.

Dr. Joseph Forand is an anesthesiologist affiliated with Mercy Hospital South. In 2014, he worked with St. Anthony’s Medical Center to produce the documentary film, “Anatomy of an Overdose.” Joining Dr. Forand will be Patrolman Kenny Sheetz of the Sunset Hills Police Department and Dr. Dustin R. Smith, Emergency Department Physician at Mercy Hospital South.
